Blessings to You at this Christmas Time!

As we give and receive gifts this Christmas time, may we remember the greatest gift of all - The gift of God's son Jesus Christ. Have a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. Please pray for our camp friends and the staff that will be working with us this summer. Danielle has begun recruitment for another year.

Also pray for our year-end giving. That God will bless us with more that we can ever imagine.

Pray for our missionary families as they will be celebrating His birth in other lands.

Missionaries We Support

Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks supports eight missionaries with the money collected in church offerings over the course of the summer. All of our missionaries are former staff members who have taken what they've learned at camp all over the world.

Linda and Ron Braaten—Oasis Ministry - Belize, Central America

The Braatens are working to meet the physical, education, and spiritual needs of people in the community. They now have 4 classes at their school and have been building houses for people. Pray for the people of Belize to come to know Jesus and tell others about Him.

Lois and Roger Bryson—Wycliffe Bible Translators - Waxhaw, NC

Lois and Roger are working to bring the gospel to people around the world through media. One thing they do is to train people to record the Bible on tape for those who can't read. Pray that people would come to know the Lord through the work of the missionaries the Brysons train.

Bonnie & Jonathan Moore - SIM USA - Niger, Africa

Jonathan preaches and teaches in their local church and Bonnie does literacy work in the church and neighborhood. They are also involved in their community and use friendship evangelism to help reach the people around them with the gospel.

Rachel & Edwin Lopez - World Outreach Ministires - Belize, Central America

Rachel is working with teen girls in her church and community. She is leading the youth group and doing Bible clubs at the schools. Pray for the kids that she works with and their families- that they would come to know Jesus and choose to follow Him.

Sarah T* - Pioneers - Albany, NY

Sarah (Melodi) works with Pioneers as Albany area director of Horizons International, an organization that serves International students in theCapital District. She will be leading her team in welcoming students, introducing them to American culture, connecting them with churches, and offering them an opportunity to hear the gospel through various means. Pray for Sarah and the students she interacts with.

Doris and Mack Graham - Wycliffe Bible Translators - Papua New Guinea

The Grahams are helping the people of New Guinea to read the Bible for themselves. They are translating the Bible into the language of the people there. Pray that they would be able to finish the translation and that the people there would read God's Word and come to know Him.

Claudia Long - SIM-USA - Nigeria, Africa

Claudia works at camp- in Africa. She runs camps for
the youth of Nigeria. They are working on developing
their property and putting up some new buildings. Pray
that the campers would have a fun and safe experience
and that their hearts would be open to God.

Peggy and Barry Owen - WorldVenture - Taiwan

The Owens are planting churches in Taiwan. This is important to help the people of Taiwan to hear the gospel and to grow in the Lord once they become Christians. Pray that the churches would grow as more people come to know the Lord.

Michelle Stockman - Latin American Mission - Belize, Central America

Michelle is running Jehovah Rapha, a home for girls that are neglected by their families. she is also involved at her church and with other programs for kids in the community. Pray for the kids she works with and for her as she fills in as a "mother" for these girls.

Dan & Naomi * —WEC Int'l - Central, Asia

Dan and Naomi have recently transitioned and are now planting churches in Central Asia. Pray for them as they make adjustments to their new home and begin the work God has given them.

We praise God for the people who worked hard on the newsletter, calendar brochure, full brochure, and registration program - all of which are soon to be released. Pray that God will use all of this for his glory and that many campers will find their way to one of the weeks available this next summer.

Pray for Danielle as she recruits campers and staff. Pray for the teams of volunteers who help her with church presentations as they travel to many churches and presents our ministry to girls.

Pray for Nadine as she works with the new registration program.

Pray for year-end giving that God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. This is a busy time of year as we gear up for another year at camp. Your prayers are greatly appreciated!

Prayer, Praise, and Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving:
As Thanksgiving approaches we have much to be thankful for. God has given us a great camp and wonderful heritage. Let's thank Him for his hand upon us every summer as we minister to our campers.

We have a wonderful staff which we thank God each and every day. He has given us vision and direction through the years. We have a wonderful board of directors and support volunteers throughout the year to keep things moving in the way our mission describes.

Praise:
We praise God for his Holy Spirit who searches our hearts and keeps us close to Him. May he continue to be a central focus in our lives.

Prayer:
Pray for lots of campers this next year!
Pray for our new registration program as we prepare to go live with it.
Pray for our year-end appeal for funds - that God will bless us more than we can even imagine!
Pray for friends of ours...Shirley Lisbona who is having surgery December 14th for a spot that is cancerous.
Pray that God protects our camp property throughout the winter months.

Working Hard for Next Summer

Pray with us as we put together the 2012 brochure, planning the weekly themes, settling on prices for next year, and finishing the fall newsletter.

We also will be working with a new registration program. Pray that the learning curve for this will be short. Your prayers for a smooth transition will be appreciated!

Camp has been put to bed for another year. We ask God to protect his property while we are not there.

We also have a board retreat coming up this Saturday, October 22. Pray that God will give the board wisdom and discernment as we examine the present and plan for future strategies that will help camp grow.

We are grateful for all your prayers and support for camp in every way. Our prayers are the building blocks for a solid foundation for this camping ministry.

Zoo Walk - Lots of Fun!

We have received word that Carol Keller Sehr's husband Rich had a stroke. He is now in Albany Medical Center and all of the kids are with him. Please pray for Rich, Carol, and the rest of the family. We will post an update when we hear news.

Eight Days Until Staff Arrive!

Pray for all the travel that will take place as people arrive at camp over this next week.
-Pray for safe travel for Tigger, Lewie, and Ryder as they pick up Wren's horses in PA.
-Pray for Olli as she packs her girls and moves to camp for the season.
-Pray for Wally as she packs and arrives at camp for pre-camp training.
-Pray for staff as each one arrives at camp throughout the week and especially Saturday when the majority will be on the road.

We need to finish the steel roofing!
Pray that God will send people to help us finish the steel roofing of the activity building, Pine Cabin, and the Administrative Offices (AO). Pray also for safety as people are on the roofs.
We are planning June 24-26 as the weekend to finish this major undertaking. Let's have all hands on deck for this!

We also have finishing touches we need to do before opening for the summer. Pray that these will be finished on time.
We are excited about this year and the campers who will be coming. Pray that God will send those who He has in mind for this extraordinary experience of camp.

Our last Work Weekend before summer camp schedule

This weekend we have lots of projects needing completion. The biggest ones are the steel roofing for the activity building, Pine Cabin, and the Administration Offices building. Pray that we have good weather and lots of people to help finish the projects. We also have minor projects still needing to be completed. Your prayers are greatly appreciated!

Pray for registrations for camp. We want to minister to as many as possible for the kingdom of God.

Praise for all the staff who will be coming to camp this summer. We are excited about the quality of our staff and the desires they have to minister to young girls.

Pray for Nancy and Danielle as they make preparations for pre-camp training with our staff.

Thank the Lord for a Great Memorial Day Weekend!

We had over 160 people throughout the weekend come and help us prepare for ministry this year. God is great and many projects were started and some were finished. Pray that all the major ones will be completed by the time Mother/Daughter weekend comes around.
The shingles on the roof of the activity building, Pine Cabin, and the Administrative Office have been removed. The next work weekend we will install a metal roof on each. Pray that all goes well and everything is completed.
A prayer gazebo has been framed out. Finishing touches will be this coming weekend. Pray that all goes well.
The satellite dish has been placed and internet is available. Pray that we will be able to get the signal to the office from the birdhouse.
Six new picnic tables have been built - praise the Lord for a great team of workers who kept with it and completed the task!
The tents are up and ready to go. We are grateful for the team who puts these up every year!

CAMPOREE THIS WEEKEND
Pray for the churches who are bringing girls to the Camporee this weekend. Pray for safety on the road, safety at camp, a great time by the girls and their leaders, and have a wonderful experience with the Lord through their time in morning watch and during their sessions. We have around 160 registered for this event.

Scholarships for campers

We are in the middle of awarding scholarships to campers. Pray that as the fundraising letter goes out to request funds for the scholarship program, many will respond to the need so that we don't need to turn anyone away. Right now we are looking at an additional six applicants and we are not sure where the money will come from. God is good. Pray that he will secure the funds needed.

The Emerson Family, Zoo Walk, Lois and Roger Bryson

The Emerson Family
Yesterday was a very sad day as we witnessed the funeral of little Kemuel, 22 month old of Naomi and Dan Emerson. Please continue to pray for them and their 4 children as they make adjustments to living without him. This was tragic accident that only God can heal. Dan and Naomi were on our staff for a number of years. We love them and wish them God's comfort and love.

The Zoo Walk
We are involved in preparations for our Zoo Walk at the Bronx Zoo, which is a FUNraiser for camp September 24th. Pray as we discuss the details for this event. Our goal is $20,000. Pray that God will help us meet this goal.

Lois & Roger Bryson
The Brysons will be our speakers for the Friends and Family Camp this year. We are excited to have them with us for the entire week! Pray as they make their plans and put together some great lessons from the Word of God.

We have just received news from the Naomi and Dan Emerson, one of our camp families who we support on the mission field. Please keep them in your prayers.

Dear all,

We are very sad to let you know that our little Kemuel passed away today. He was playing in our courtyard and uncovered a whole that has a broken water pipe and is full of water. He fell head first into the whole and drowned. Naomi attempted to resuscitate him and the emergency personnel attempted as well, but in the end it was too late. Kemuel's name means God's helper, and now he is helping God in another way. I'm sure this conjures up many questions, as it has in our own minds. Please be patient with us as we grieve this great loss.

Opening of Camp

Pray for the guys who are going up to camp to turn on the water. The snow has finally melted and the lake has been closed. Also pray for the spring projects we have on the list. A group of guys from Loudonville Church will be measuring the roof of the activity building for steel roofing. Pray for safety has they walk around on top.

We are also looking at new flooring for the kitchen - especially around Daisy. Pray that we have wisdom in all of this and lots of volunteers to help.

Lois and Roger Bryson, our missionaries, will be speakers for Family and Friends Camp. Pray for them as they prepare to share the Word of God with us.

The countdown for camp is on!

We have 60 days until the first work weekend. Pray that all the projects planned will have a great start and finish. That all supplies and materials will be there and plenty of workers to get the jobs done.
We have 67 days until Camporee. Pray that God will prepare the hearts of the girls who will be coming from the various churches. We look forward to this time with the churches and their leaders and girls.
We have 89 days until pre-camp training begins with our staff. Pray that God will go before us and prepare the way for all that takes place in training our staff. Danielle is busy hiring staff and registering volunteers for the summer. Key areas are nurses for each week, kitchen help for each week, maintenance for each week.
We have 95 days until mother/daughter. Pray as Lisa Morrone and her daughter presents the Word of God to the ladies.
We have 97 days until Family and Friends camp begins. Many are coming as a time to refresh and renew their relationship with friends and with God. Pray that the Holy Spirit will speak to their hearts as Lois and Roger Bryson bring the Bible Explorations.
We have 104 days until our first week of summer camp. Pray that God will touch the tender hearts of our campers and grow in Him.

Pray for Claudia Long, Camp's Missionary in Nigeria & Dianne Liddy

Claudia Long is a long standing member of the camp community at Camp Cedarbrook. Her history goes back a long way. Claudia is home until May from Nigeria. She works with the Evangelical Churches Winning All Headquarters (ECWA) at their headquarters in the Christian Education Department. Claudia has been building camps for youth and churches for several years. She has patterned the camps after Camp Cedarbrook. Pray for Claudia as she visits the churches that support her while being home.

Pray also for Dianne Liddy as she heads out on a missions trip with Northport Baptist to Cuba. She will be out of the country for two weeks.

Al Dougherty's Memorial Service

Pray for the Hallock Family

Last summer, a week before Britta came to camp for CILT I, Jeff Hallock, her father, fell off a roof and broke his neck and his back. He has been in the hospital since then. At Christmas time their house burned to the ground. Dad's name is Jeff Hallock. CILT is Britta Hallock. Mom is Ilene Hallock. The brother is Jeffrey Hallock. Please pray for this family - for Jeff that he will improve enough to go to rehab. For Ilene as she holds the family together and deals with all the issues at hand. For Britta as she works through these difficult circumstances of losing everything and her dad's condition. For Jeffrey has he continues in college away from the family and not able to help out much. Pray that God will work in and through these difficult days for the Hallock family. New Hyde Park Baptist just sponsored a benefit concert for the family. Praise God for a wonderful church family who stepped up to help the Hallocks in their time of desperate need.

Al and June Dougherty have been involved with Camp Cedarbrook for over 40 years. All was on the site committee and June helped out at camp as registrar and business manager for years. Both are in the 80's and recently Al has taken a turn for the worse. He has cancer and they give him a few months. Answers to Prayers for Doris and Mack

Dear Family and Friends,

Mack didn't know about my prayer request until his inbox was FILLED with your encouraging responses! Thank you!

Update:

-All of the joints around the water drums were leaking and now they are NOT and this happened on their own!

-One boil has drained and the others are not getting worse.

-Our regular committee is now checking Hebrews and today they start chapter 10. One important change is this, "We changed one verse that said Jesus would die every day for us, to Jesus' death is eternal for us!" Big difference!

This has spawned good discussion about their sacrificial system to ancestors (which is continuous).

Thank you Lord for hearing our prayers. Please keep praying for these next few days of checking Hebrews and the whole month of February consultant checking Acts and Romans here in Ukarumpa. May the power of truth set men free!

Special prayer request from one of our missionaries

Doris and Mack Graham are missionaries in Papua New Guinea. Mack works with Wycliffe in translations for the villages there.

Dear Family and Friends,

This has been a particularly hard time for Mack in the village. Just about everything has been difficult.

The printers don't work, the water is leaking, the checking (of the books of the new testament) is going poorly, the people he hoped to bring to Ukarumpa aren't there, he has 4 boils which are getting painful, the village where he went to check Hebrews was uninterested and during the night that he spent there, one person severely injured another man's thumb in a fight, and a woman cut off her finger in anger. There are other things I won't mention but it all looks like a spiritual struggle to me and I just ask you to please pray for Mack and the people who need God's love and healing in their lives. To quote Mack,"We've read the last chapter and Jesus wins!"

New Beginnings for Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks!

We are excited for the new year and all that comes with it. We praise God for the campers that have signed up for this coming summer. Continue to pray that the Lord will send us the girls He feels need to be at camp. Pray for our camp director, Nancy Halliday and her sister Lois in the loss of their dad two weeks ago.

Danielle is busy recruiting and setting up presentations at churches. Our desire is to visit as many churches as we can and present the ministry of Camp Cedarbrook. Your prayers are greatly appreciated.

Nadine is busy with registrations and finishing up the end of the year finances. We praise God for his unending faithfulness to us in this area.

Saturday, January 29, we have a board meeting. Pray that God's spirit will be there helping us make wise choices for camp and its future.

Year-end Giving

Pray with us regarding the year-end giving.
1. That God would touch the hearts of those to give who have experienced God deeply in their lives as a result of camp.
2. That parents will see the need to not only sign their daughters up for camp this next summer, but will also remember camp as they make contributions to various worthy organizations.
3. That God will touch those who have given to camp for the first time to continue to give having seen results of what God has done at camp.

Also pray for those deciding whether to sign up their daughters for camp or not, and take advantage of the discounts by year-end.

We know that prayer is key in the success of our ministry. We always want to focus on God and his vision for the direction of Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks. We are grateful for the board of directors and the finance committee as they seek the Lord for future direction of camp. Pray also for these people who influence the fiduciary climate of camp.

The Christmas season is upon us

With all the stress, the hustle and bustle, let's not forget that Jesus is the reason for the season. Blessings on you and your loved ones as we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As we near the deadlines for discount registrations, pray that God will send us the girls that need to be at camp. We delight in ministering to campers for our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pray, also, for the needed funds to meet our current obligations.

We had two of our staff get married this past weekend. Sarah Rennells in Albany, NY, and Esther Dauber in New Providence, NJ. Pray that God will bless their marriages.

Year-end giving and camper registrations

Thank you for your prayers throughout this month. We are grateful as we see the hand of God move in the lives of those who support camp. Pray that God will provide the needed funds to end the year in the black. God has been faithful throughout our existence as a ministry. He will continue to be faithful to us this year as well.
Pray also for camper registrations. We are offering a few incentives for campers to register early. We have the year end discount if campers register by December 31. And we also have the "refer-a-friend" discount where both the camper and the friend get $50 off their registration fees. Our desire is to minister to girls at camp, presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ. We need to pray that God prepares the hearts of those who need to be at camp next summer.
Pray for Nancy Halliday as she prepares pre-camp training for our staff. Pray for Danielle Hedgepeth as she balances camper & staff recruitment with her family life having two little girls to manage. Pray for Dianne Liddy as she works on fundraising and other aspects of the ministry. Pray for Nadine as she works on registrations for next summer.

Thankful for a great conference and 45th Anniversary!

Thank you for your prayers as we traveled to North Carolina for our annual Association of Camp Cedarbrook Camps Conference and our final 45th Anniversary Celebration. God truly blessed us at both events. We were able to connect with old friends and share our stories with each other.

We are now working on year-end items - brochures, rack card mailings, updates on the website, registration process and forms. Pray that all works well together. We have lots going on for the month of December with final general discounts and refer-a-friend discounts. We need lots of campers! So pray that God will fill our camp so we can minister to them for God's Kingdom.

A Great 45th Anniversary! A Great Camp Cedarbrook Conference

We are very pleased with the 45th anniversary in Charlotte, NC. God reminded us of the faithfulness of our Cedarbrook family. It was wonderful seeing so many of our friends and renewing our friendships.

Let's pray that God continues to bless us as we move toward this next summer. 14 Cedarbrook camps attended the conference. It was great renewing our commitments to the Lord and to the ministry. Following the conference, Nancy, Danielle, and Dianne headed back home ready to implement plans being made for this next year. Pray that we will be able to use the ideas, and direction that was given at the conference for Cedarbrook camps.

Brochure, Conference & the Last 45th Celebration

We have been working on our brochure. Pray with us that we communicate all the information as clearly as possible. Pray for Ellen as she works on design and format, for Danielle, Nadine, and Dianne as they work through the new programs and materials. We thank God for all his provisions and guidance.

Nancy, Danielle and Dianne will be attending the Association of Cedarbrook Camps Thursday thru Sunday. Dianne will be training 5 new directors on Thursday. Danielle will be leading a session regarding technology and its use with camp. Nancy is on the council and will be meeting with them while she is at conference. Pray For Our Camp Missionaries

During the summer months we take an offering on Sunday for the missionaries who have had a connection with camp. At the end of the summer, we divide up this offering among our Camp Cedarbrook missionaries. God has blessed our ministry by having these missionaries come to camp when home and share with the campers and staff.

We just exceeded $20,000 in contributions for the Zoo Walk! God is good!

This last weekend we had our annual Board Retreat. Praise to God for such a great board of directors. With many challenges that are ahead, we move forward knowing that God will meet us at every challenge and give wisdom to proceed as we make plans for the future.

Needs and concerns:
We are in need of several roofing projects for our buildings. We have some shingles that need replacing. We also would like to replace shingles on the activity building and several other buildings with steel roofing. This is a major undertaking for us. Pray that God will provide both the finances and the personnel to complete this project.

We want to put in a satellite dish for the internet on the camp office. The initial cost is high. Pray that God will send someone to help us walk through this process and that the finances will be there this spring.

We would like to stock our pond with sunfish and large mouth bass. We have secured the proper permits to do this. We need to purchase fish from a reputable hatchery that give health certificates with the fish they sell. Each fish costs approximately $2.50 each. Pray with us that God will lead our final research and supply both the wisdom and finances to make this happen.

We are in the middle of preparing the brochure for this year. Pray that God will give us many many campers this coming summer. Our goal is to reach and disciple girls for Jesus Christ.

Preparations for summer of 2011

Pray for Danielle, Dianne, and Nancy as they make plans for next summer.
The spiritual theme and verse for 2011 is "Soar Like Eagles"
Isaiah 40:31 "But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

There are lots of details that go into a summer at camp.
Pray for:
Quality summer camp staff who love the Lord and love children
Volunteers who help in the off-season to keep the facilities up and grounds maintained
Nadine as she maintains our website and financial accounting
Danielle as she works with facebook, twitter, and helps with the website and other computer stuff
Danielle as she recruits campers, staff, and summer volunteers
Dianne as she works on the newsletter, brochure, and other written materials
Nancy as she preps training materials for staff

We also have a board retreat this coming Saturday, Oct 16. Pray that God will direct the thinking and decisions of our board members as we move forward in this sluggish economy.

The zoo walk was a major success for us! Here’s some numbers.

We had 155 participants

We raised $18,314 from over 400 pledgers

Our goal was $15,000.

A great day at the Bronx Zoo!

Thank you for your prayers as we walked the 2 mile trac between 8-10 am on Saturday. We had 155 participants who enjoyed the day at the zoo following the walk.

The Lord is good and gave us great weather, a wonderful time of fellowship with new and old friends from camp, experienced a delicious BBQ under the pavilion, and memories built with our families and friends that will last a life time. For those who participated – one big THANK YOU for making this event highly successful. Blessings on all who participated by walking or by giving.

Currently we have around 180 people coming for the weekend.

Please pray that God will provide safe journeys for each church group coming.
Also pray for safety in the activities and the leadership training that will be going on throughout the weekend.
Pray that the Holy Spirit will move in the hearts of the children and the leaders.
Our desire is to provide the environment to allow God to work in the lives of all those who attend.
Our kitchen will be opened for the first time this year with such a large group. Trying to make sure everything is ready is quite a chore. Pray for organization.
